Broken Beyond Repair

Broken Beyond Repair

Proverbs 29:1  AMP
He who hardens his neck and refuses instruction after being often reproved (corrected, criticized),
Will suddenly be broken beyond repair.

Matthew Henry concise commentary
Verse 1 If God wounds, who can heal? The word of God warns all to flee from the wrath to come, to the hope set before us in Jesus Christ.

Miyagi’s commentary
Our God is a gracious and loving Father.  He is not willing that any should perish but all come to repentance. (2 Pet 3:9) He is lavish with His grace and mercy.  But there will come a point when a person continues in sin time after time, even after many rebukes and reprimand from the Lord, that he will be suddenly destroyed… without any chance of deliverance or recovery.

There are many people in this world who ignores God and His Word.  Some are ignorant of His ways.  Others are down right rebellious.  People who choose to reject Christ have made a choice for sin.  For to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior would mean that one would have to forsake his sin and follow Him.  But many people love their sin….more than they love Christ.   And they do not want to change.  They do not want to give up their sin.

Have you ever heard people say things like “well, I know that God loves everyone, even the homosexuals.”  Yes, God loves everyone, including the sinner.  But He hates sin.  And He will not condone or tolerate sin.  Sin has to be punished.  That is why Jesus had to die on the cross….for our sins.  HE pay the debt that He did not owe because we owe a debt that we cannot pay.   Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death.   And when people choose to continue in their sinful lifestyle time after time, they will fall out of grace.  They will die.

Summary conclusion:
So for those who are still enjoying their sin, take heed.   Repent...for the kingdom of God is at hand.  If not, you are in for a rude awakening.   If after many reproofs and rebukes, a person still refuses to repent, he will be suddenly destroyed and will enter into eternal damnation.  When a person reach a point where sin does not even bother his conscience, he has reach the point of no return.  He then is destined for total destruction.

Psalm 37:38
As for transgressors, they will be completely destroyed; The future of the wicked will be cut off.

Matthew Henry concise commentary
Verses 34-40 Duty is ours, and we must mind it; but events are God's, we must refer the disposal of them to him. What a striking ( psalms 37:35-36 ) But God remarkably blights the projects of the prosperous wicked, especially persecutors. None are perfect in themselves, but believers are so in Christ Jesus. If all the saint's days continue dark and cloudy, his dying day may prove comfortable, and his sun set bright; or, if it should set under a cloud, yet his future state will be everlasting peace. The salvation of the righteous will be the Lord's doing. He will help them to do their duties, to bear their burdens; help them to bear their troubles well, and get good by them, and, in due time, will deliver them out of their troubles. Let sinners then depart from evil, and do good; repent of and forsake sin, and trust in the mercy of God through Jesus Christ. Let them take his yoke upon them, and learn of him, that they may dwell for evermore in heaven. Let us mark the closing scenes of different characters, and always depend on God's mercy.

Miyagi’s commentary
Life, as a believer, is not about fun.  And sin is fun.  That is why people don’t want to stop.   As believers, it is about living the straight and narrow.  Those who have embraced a sinful lifestyle is operating in the flesh, not in the Spirit.  And those who operates in the Spirit have forsaken all sin.  You may have heard it preached on the pulpit “that as long as we are in this body, we will sin.”  That is a lie from the pits of hell.  When Jesus died on the cross, He had conquered sin, once and for all.  Those who have made Jesus their Lord and savior and have made a decision to follow Him all the days of their lives will have victory over sin.  Those who haven’t will continue to struggle with sin because one cannot conquer sin in the flesh.  The flesh simply cannot destroy itself.   So in surrendering totally to Jesus Christ, one will have victory over sin.  Otherwise, Jesus died for nothing.

Summary conclusion:
“If My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chr 7:14).    Now is the time to repent and turn from one’s wicked ways.  Tomorrow is promised to no one.

Warning:
So according to God’s word, this is a warning message to those who have a stiff neck, a hardened heart or a prideful standing.

Hebrews 3:7-15  Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today if you hear His voice,
8  Do not harden your hearts as [your fathers did] in the rebellion [of Israel at [a]Meribah],
On the day of testing in the wilderness,
9  Where your fathers tried Me by testing [My forbearance and tolerance],
And saw My works for forty years
[And found I stood their test].
10  “Therefore I was angered with this generation,
And I said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they did not know My ways [nor become progressively better and more intimately acquainted with them]’;
11  So I swore [an oath] in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest [the promised land].’”

12 Take care, brothers and sisters, that there not be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to trust and rely on the Lord, a heart] that turns away from the living God. 13 But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication]. 14 For we [believers] have become partakers of Christ [sharing in all that the Messiah has for us], if only we hold firm our newborn confidence [which originally led us to Him] until the end, 15 while it is said,

“Today [while there is still opportunity] if you hear His voice,
Do not harden your heart, as when they provoked Me [in the rebellion in the desert at Meribah].”

The brokenness beyond repair is attributed to the deceitfulness of sin.  This deceitfulness will harden the heart, turning it into stone.  When the heart turns to stone, it is beyond repair.  That person has become the walking dead.  He has crossed the line.  He has lost his soul.  So being broken beyond repair comes as a result of a hardened heart.  This is what happens to the person who continues to deny the truth from God’s word. There is so much pride, ego, and self-righteousness.  He rises up and refuses to deal with his sin, but denies the sin issues.  He deceives himself as he convinces himself that all is well. Then one day, the time will come when he totally loses his soul.

The enemy of our soul, the devil,  uses deception, the distortion of the Word of God, bringing in false prophets and teachers, and deceives even the elect.  The brokenness beyond repair is a matter of choice.  When a person gets to this point, it is difficult to win him over back to the Lord.  He will make excuses for his sin.  He will condone sin and pacify sin.  A person who has crossed over the line may say something like this:

“Jesus already paid for our sin.  We are already covered under His grace.  So we can sin and enjoy life because he already died for our sin.  So I have a blanket covering because we are covered by His grace.  It is all cool and casual.”

So when a person makes this type of statements, he is defending his sin.  And his sin has become his god.  He will not depart from it.  He will hold on tight to it and enter into eternal damnation with it.  He becomes totally deceived and he has become…….broken beyond repair.

The big picture:
Sin is conquerable, but only with the power of Jesus Christ.   To try and conquer it in the flesh is futile.  Get serious about sin because it can and will cost you eternity.  A little leaven leavens the whole lump.  If sin is not dealt with in the early stage, it will spread like cancer.

The byword:
When you are broken beyond repair, there is no more hope.  Don’t be deceived.  Repent today.

If you don’t break your sin, your sin will break you….and you will become “broken beyond repair.”

Miyagi
